Overview

Places of Attractions
Singapore, the amalgamation of traditional East with its entire
mysticism and modern west with its sophistication, is the place to live
it up!
Over at Boat Quay you will see the interesting mix of colourful
buildings. Chinatown is the cultural heart of Singapore.
Thian Hock Keng Temple here is arguably the most interesting in Singapore.
The Raffles Hotel, Empress Place Building, imposing churches, such as
St Andrew's Cathedral and the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd
are all there in the colonial Singapore.
Night Safari
The Night Safari, which is the world's first night wildlife
park, set in 40 hectares of dense forest. The landscape changes dramatically,
from the rocky outcrops of the Himalayan Foothills, to the grassy
plains of Equatorial Africa and ending with the awesome forests
of Southeast Asia. It houses animals from eight geographical zones
representing three continents - Asia, Africa and South
America.
A night out at the Night Safari will not be complete without exploring
the dense jungle on foot. This can be done by treading any of the three
walking trails, namely the Fishing Cat, Leopard and Forest
Giants Trails.
Jurong Bird Park
Here you can see an awesome Waterfall, the world's highest man-made
waterfall towering 30 meters, the interesting Penguin Parade,
where penguins live and play in an environment similar to that of the
South Pole. The Southeast Asian Bird Aviary where a thunderstorm is stimulated
everyday at noon; and the highly entertaining Fuji World of Hawks's
show.
Discovery Centre
Open the windows of your mind as you discover Singapore's history and
technological endeavours, while having fun with interactive attractions.
There is a shooting gallery and a motion simulator as well
as many interesting interactive games.
Botanical
Garden
In the Botanical Garden take a leisurely stroll through the oldest
public park in Singapore and the birthplace of the rubber
industry in the region. Walk through a section of the primary
forest and if orchids fascinate you, visit the spectacular National
Orchid Garden and be amazed by the varieties and colours of orchids
on display.
Open Zoos
"
One of the most beautiful Zoos in the world " where you can come
face to face with a Polar Bear or Pigmy hippos. It is a
scenic open zoo that has among many highlights has the largest group of
Orangutans and the fragile forest, which is an exciting and educational
display of ecosystems and rain forest culture.
Sentosa
Sentosa Island is everyone's delight.
Considered the highlight of Singapore's parks, it has museums, aquariums,
beaches with imported sand, sporting facilities, walks, rides
and food centres. To go around in a Sentosa monorail will
be both convenient and thrilling.
In the world that awaits you underwater, only glass panels separate you
from baby sharks, giant manta rays and other marine life. It is
one of Asia's most popular oceanarium and has more than 2,500 marine
animals from 250 species. Children will have an enjoyable time learning
all about sea life.
For the first time in the world, At Underwater World Singapore,
while enjoying the huge fishes and hungry sharks cruising
above and around, you can savour a sumptuous dinner. Located on the Central
Beach of Sentosa Island Dolphin Lagoon is Underwater World's latest
attraction., the Lagoon is home to several Indo Pacific Humpback Dolphins,
also known as the Pink Dolphins.
Fantasy Island
Asia's
largest water theme park, Fantasy Island has plenty of fun
filled ways to help you cool off on a HOT Singapore day. Revel on rafting
or wild slides, and enjoy ballet performance that is a stupendous
integration of music, light, laser and colour. At sundown,
dancing water jets, pretty laser images- motion pictures projected
onto a giant water screen and lively music set the stage
for a theatre of mystical drama and stunning effects.
River Cruises
Cruise down the Singapore River in an authentic bumboat
it is the best way to see the legacy of Singapore's history.
The bumboats, which are painted with a face and eyes for safe
sailing, had contributed tremendously to Singapore's early seaport
trade. It was the primary means of transporting goods from
ships anchored in the harbour to the warehouses lining the Singapore
River.
Arts & Culture
For the cultural- vultures and those with a heart for art, Singapore is
the place to be. A burgeoning arts scene with drama, music and dance performances
all year round at various locations, culminating in the Singapore Arts
Festival in June. The Asian Civilisations Museum focuses on the
ancestral cultures of Singapore and Asia while the exhibits at the Singapore
Art Museum trace the birth of Singapore.
The grand Sultan Mosque is the biggest and liveliest mosque in
Singapore, but the tiny Malabar Muslim Jama-ath Mosque is the most
beautiful.
The Festival of the Hungry Ghosts is usually celebrated
in September. This is the one-day of the year that the souls of the dead
are released for feasting and entertainment on earth. The festival of
Thaipusam is one of the most dramatic Hindu festivals.
Nightlife
There are cultural shows, street operas, special types
of street theatre, fine theatres and international films
providing inexpensive entertainment. Most hotels have bars
or cocktail lounges, which stay open until the early hours of the
morning. Nightclubs have international entertainers and generally
serve a wide range of food.
Food & Drink

Singapore is a gourmet's paradise, ranging from humble
street stalls to 5-star restaurants. There are over 30 different
cooking styles, including various regional styles. One of the
best ways to eat in Singapore is in the open, at one of the 8000 street
footstalls. Some are quiet and casual while others are in areas bustling
with activity. All have a vast selection of cheap and appetizing food.
Bars/cocktail lounges often have table and counter service. There
are no licensing hours. 'Happy hours' are usually from 1700-1900.
Shopping
The vast range of available goods and competitive prices
have led to Singapore rightly being known as a shopper's paradise.
Special purchases include Chinese, Indian, Malay,
Balinese and Filipino antiques, Cameras, Chinese,
Persian and Indian carpets, imported or tailored
clothing, jewelry and Silks, perfumes, silverware
and wigs are other favorites buys. Orchard Road is the main
shopping street, although many of the large hotel complexes, such as Marina
Square, have shopping centers attached. Although most outlets operate
Western-style fixed pricing, bargains can still be made in some places
but generally only after good research and shrewd negotiating. Electrical
equipment of all types can be bought at Sungei Road, but be
cautious of imitation.

Accommodation
Whether you prefer a more luxurious establishment or simple, budget accommodation.
Singapore welcomes you with accommodation that's ideally suited
to your taste. You can choose from the many international hotel chains
that are mostly situated around the Central Business District,
Orchard Road and Marina area. Or if you prefer the Old
World ambience, take a step back in time to the many boutique hotels
housed in lovingly restored shophouses.
The City with a clean chit
Singapore is reckon as a clean, green city, but this
reputation has been achieved with a number of laws aimed to control personal
behavior. These laws apply equally to tourists as well.
· No Chewing Gum is allowed in Singapore
· Anybody caught littering is fined $1000
· Anyone caught smoking in public areas is fined $5000
· Eating or Drinking is prohibited on the whole Mass Rapid Transit
system.
Climate
Located just north of the equator, Singapore enjoys a warm
tropical weather that is relatively calm and consistent
throughout the year. The average daily temperature is 26.7'C.
Rainfall is most abundant during the Northeast Monsoon season
from November to January. Much of the rain falls in sudden showers.
February is usually the sunniest month while December
is often the wettest. However, July and August are the hottest
months when average temperatures are at their peak.
